A Message from the Alumni House Corporation President

Brothers,

I’d like to start off by thanking all of you who have taken part in the discussion about the future location of our chapter. On top of the 100+ brothers who attended the June meeting, there are dozens more that helped prepare information leading up to that meeting and who have stepped up afterward to keep the momentum going. Without your help, the house corporation would not be able to pull off the audacious goal we’ve set of fully renovating 416 Beacon Street. I’m asking for your continued support and engagement over the coming years as we set out on a path to successfully accomplish that goal.

After the June meeting, the house corporation board of directors started the process of forming a capital campaign committee comprised of alumni across the decades. We’ve also hired Pennington & Co to help us through this capital campaign since it will be a much larger effort than our prior campaigns. Over the next year you may hear from brothers or our campaign coordinator, Emily Harrison, as we work to strategically raise the funds necessary to complete the renovations to 416 Beacon.

A number of brothers have also stepped up to serve on the renovation committee, which has secured the services of an architecture firm, an owner’s construction representative, and a historical preservation consultant. This team is working to determine the scope of the renovation, a first estimate of the project cost, and some initial concepts on how the completed renovation will transform the house. We hope to share this exciting information with you over the comings months and welcome any feedback you have on the concepts.

At the annual meeting, we elected a new Vice President (Michael Bickers ‘12) and several new directors. Please join me in welcoming them! For new alumni or those looking to become more engaged, the house corporation is a great way to help guide the direction of the chapter and ensure our continued success for years to come. If you missed the annual meeting, but want to be involved as part of the board or either of the committees, please let me know (dtdhc.pres@gmail.com) and we will find a way to get you involved.

I’m clearly very excited for this upcoming year, and with your support, I know our chapter can accomplish amazing things. If you have a great idea on how we can keep moving forward, don’t be shy about sharing it with me or any of the board members. Until my next update, be well!

Fraternally,
Alex Pina '09
